Heating / Cooling System Other Not applicable Always
Q: The car runs great with the heat and A/C off, but when the heat or A/C is on, the car runs sluggishly.
It idles well for a few seconds, then the rpms dip from 1000 to 900 and back again when I'm standing still.
When I'm driving I notice a slight decrease in power and when I put it in neutral (stick) with the rpms over 2000, the rpms are supposed to dip to about 900-1000 and level out, but instead the rpms fall to zero and the car stalls out.
This only happens when I have the heat or A/C on. Other wise the car runs fine. What do you recommend?
A: Could be a problem in the A/C Compressor. If the resistance from the compressor is too great, it loads the engine down and stalls it at times. Ed
