Q: The car is a 1995/318ti (hatchback), w/88k on it.
There is a gurgling noise coming from underneath the car. I am not a skilled mechanic but it does sound like the exhaust?
I went underneath the car and could not see any holes although the pipe from the muffler heading up the car seems to have a dent in one section.
I am not sure if the dent or curve is meant to be there to go along with the curve of the bottom of the car or not.
The noise is pretty much constant and is clearly getting worse as time goes on.
A: I don't think the dent or curve on the pipe should make a diffrence. What you should do is get it checked by the dealer for engine over heating. With the temperature won't go up but it is clearly sounding like the engine needs to get the heads rebuilt.
Q: Car is overheating. Just had radiator replaced and thermostat and water pump. Ran without overheating for 2 days after parts were replaced. Building up quiet a bit of pressure but is not getting much flow through the radiator. Back of radiator barely warm when engine is hot. Also the heat inside the car had quit working when the car was getting hot. Started working when parts were replaced but stopped working the same time the car started overheating again. What else do you think this could be. Your suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you.
A: When the coolant system is opened and things are replaced on some vehicles, such as yours... the system needs to be air bleed. Look on the top of the thermostat housing or near the top of the head. This is what we call air bound. This can be very damaging to the engine.
Q: The car is vibrating... seems to be under the transmission, when put in park .
A: It could be the exhaust touching any part of the under part of the car... Or the engine out of balance.....
Notice whether the vibration gets better or worse when you, slightly and slowly, increase the RPM....
This should help you locate the source of the vibrations....
