Engine Upgrade Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  On a 3100 step side, I'm taking the 6 cyl. out and installing a beefed-up 327 engine, and a turbo 350 transmission. What type of mounts should I use? Anyone know of any good books? Please let me know. It's my first hotrod project.

A:  Camaro engine mounts work well, and chevy pick-up mounts for the transmission.

Chassis / Suspension & Steering Upgrade Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  The 3100 step side again... Should I convert from 6 lug wheels to 5 hole? How good is the original rear end? Also I want to lower the front suspension, but need help. Anyone know of any good books? Please let me know. Thanks.

A:  I think at this point you may want to sit down and think in terms of the project as being finished.

Make notes as to how it looks, feels, drives, handles, etc. and write these things down.

From your writings will come a plan of action, and the parts and systems you will need to get there....

It may be in your best interest to "clip" the frame about the front door seam area and weld in a more modern complete suspension/ wheels/ engine, etc. system......Ed
