Ignition System Malfunction When starting When cold
Q: Vehicle has a 305. When we try to start it after setting overnight, you turn the key and the starter seems sluggish like battery is low.
Then it floods and will not start!
After vehicle starts from jumping off of another battery and it runs alittle while it starts a
little better, but not much.
In a nutshell, the battery does not seem to have enough juice to turnver the motor fast enough to keep it from flooding. It is worse in cold weather!
I replaced batteries twice and they tested good.
Is there something that could be restricting the
battery flow? Starter maybe?
Any suggestions appreciated!
A: It sounds like your starter, but before laying down the cash for another, try checking your ground cable. Not only where it hooks to the battery, but where it hooks to the block. Unbolt, scrape paint or rust,re-connect and try again. Hope this helps
