Q: I was driving, everything was fine, and then my engine started smoking. I looked at the temp gauge, and it was way in the red. So I pulled over in an abandoned parking lot. I opened the hood, and there was lots of white smoke coming from somewhere below the belt on the front of the engine. The coolant tank was bone-dry. The radiator was cool. I put coolant in the coolant tank and left the car to cool with the hood open for about 30 mins. Then, I tried to start the car, and it did, although it didn't sound quite right. the temperature gauge didn't move a pip. Do you think that something could be wrong with the thermostat?
A: Yes it could be...also check to see if the coolant is running out from somewhere.......Ed
