Q:  i would like to know what kind of rear end is in this car and what kind of catalog can i get to find all the oem parts on this car

A:  Usually that car came with a 7.5 inch Differential with 2.94 gears if you want to double check the easiest way is to call a chevrolet dealership and give them the VIN and ask them. A chiltons or a haynes manual for your car should give you a good grasp on all the parts and Auto Zone, NAPA and the other big names will have OEM parts unless you ask them for otherwise. Good Luck

Engine Chugging Happens always Always

Q:  i recently purchased this car and it was running beautifully for 4 days then out of the blue it started losing power drastically. within 15 min i was barely able to do 25 mph. then the next day when i started the engine there was a lot of back fire. i've tried dry gas ,changing the sparkplugs, and changing the gas filter. please tell me what could possibly be the problem.

A:  Could be timing chain as was suggested, but before doing that, check out the distributor hold down clamp, these old cars had a tendency to move the distributor & change the timing. Had a '65 do that once to me. Also, check out distributor cap & rotor. Could be a cracked cap, or bad rotor. DB
