Q:  I have a `65 Impala with a 400 small block, and a 400 turbo. Over the last 36 years, the wiring has become really "butchered". My question is... what us the correct wiring modification to the stock harness for the installation of an HEI distributor? The car has this distributor in it now, but I'm not sure of the installation with the new harness. Is there a schematic available? THANKS...

A:  Putting a HEI in a small block is almost too easy.

All you have to do is get female concters from any parts store and hook neg. to - and pos. to +.

Make sure you make a mark on the firewall or someplace to show where the rotor button is pointing so you can drop the new one in at same place i firing order.

If you dont then you have to turn the engine to top dead center on 1 and start from scratch.

If you buy a aftermarket dist. like the one from excell then it will have directions in it.
