Electrical / Lighting Systems Other When accelerating Always
Q: The code for MAF goes on at 5200 RPM, and the car starts to jolt/pulse.
I changed MAF and ECM and it didn't solve the problem. Checked all the wires. Can someone help me!!!
A: Is this a new MAF you changed to?.... Or An after market of GM?...
With the car idling, tap with a ball point pen on the case of the MAF... If the car surges or idles roughly, replace or return it.
Another thing to check is the air filter. These cars are sensitive to micron flow ability of the air filter... At 5200 rpm this could be an issue.... Ed
Q: I am trying to get the best fuel economy from my 190 h.p. 350 "Crate" engine. It has a 2 barrel carb. I know there are timing tricks but I'm not sure exactly what those are plus any other tips. I don't care much about power at this point. Thanks.

A: Cubic inches combined with 3600 lbs of weight and 60mph speeds means about 14mpg.....16 would be wonderful. Ed
Q: Rebuilt 283 with hi volume oil pump.
What is max safe oil prissure in psi?
Thanks W
A: When engine is cold, it would not be uncommon for you to have 50-60 psi, depending on brand of pump and the spring in the pump..
It should climb up some at high RPM's and drop a little when warmed up.
In a small bock chevy you can run at 8-12 psi with not problems but he more the better.
Q: I notice my recently bought '63 Chevy Impala 4dr htp with 327(250 hp) has a fan clutch on it, and that it is worn and needs replacement.
So far, I keep running into a wall of finding someone that can help me. Most have told me that the 327 did not come with a fan clutch.
I live in a rual area and there are not many people that I can talk with about this problem. Did the 327 come with a fan clutch?
Any help or advice you can give me would be most appreciated.
A: Sounds like everyone is stuck on the 1963 thing... just match and replace if possible....
Or someone may have added this to your car.....
In either case, it's not too big a deal...... Ed
Q: The dipstick holder broke off at the engine block. What should I do??
A: Use a coarse thread bolt that is approximately the same size..... thread it into the middle of the broken tube, and slide-hammer the bolt out.... may take a few attempts.... Ed
