Electrical / Lighting Systems Malfunction Happens always Always
Q: The plastic gear for the electric seat motor is stripped.
It is the rear, up/down motor. The dealer won't sell this
part or motor separately, just the complete seat assembly.
Do you think I can get this gear made or buy from the
original motor manufacturer?
A: You don't have to do either of those. As odd as it may
sound, there are many places that deal in auto parts that
may carry just such a motor and gear.
Assuming that you have already checked these places out,
is it still under it's warranty? If so it might get
replaced for free.
If that does not work, I would recommend going to a
junk yard to look for any Dodge with electric seat
adjustments, they should all be ambidextrous,
meaning you can swap the parts. Be careful when
pulling the part out however, it is plastic after
all, stripping it upon removal of the part would
defeat the purpose.

A: The parts department at a dealer , or an independent parts store can tell you . They will need to know the year , make , model , and perhaps the engine displacement .
