Q: Hi. I recently installed a cold air induction kit on my '97 Cobra. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer because I have heard this should always be done after mods. Now everytime I crank the car, the electric air pump runs for a couple of minutes and shuts off. I have never heard this pump before. I know it comes on under rich conditions to provide the additional O2 needed to the cats, but will the computer eventually compensate and keep this air pump from coming on every time the car is started? It is very annoying. Thank you!
A: Kind of a catch 22. Yes if it is supposed to, as long as you have not connected into something or disconnected part of the system that is now causing this. Ed
Q: When I get to a stop, the engine starts going up and down for a few minutes.
A: Remove and clean the Idle Air Control Motor. And clean the tip and screw/spring area as well. Also, clean the channel that it fits into with a good carburetor cleaner spray. Replace, and then disconnect the battery for at least 1 minute (by disconnecting the negative cable).

Would a new radiator help? And if so, what type should I install.
The car has 87,000 miles and runs very well.
I've just had the radiator flushed by the dealer, but it didn't help. The temperture seems normal when I have the A/C on. I'm sure it's because the fan is on. With the A/C off the car will heat up to the point that the fan comes on. This will happen in just a few blocks. Outside air temperture is cool.
Help, Thanks!!!
A: Not sure how warm the car gets here?
Is it possible that the dealer installed a hotter thermostat?
Are you losing any coolant?
The car should heat up to the point that the fan comes on, that is normal.
