Q:  How do you adjust the headlights.

A:  I think these ones are by opening the hood and looking from above the light. Small bolt looking adjusters. Ed

Drive Train / Driveline Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  When going down the road it feels like going over speed bumps sometimes and if you give it more gas or apply the brakes it stops for a while. Transmisson chatter or tork converter clutch plates chattering???

A:  You must have an 4R70W trans--if so have it serviced and refill with FORD's new MERCON 5 trans fluid--if you are not planning on keeping the vehicle go to FORD parts department and purchase a bottle of FRICTION MODIFIER and add to your old fluid. It's also called posi-trac additive.About $6.00 i think. Should take care of your problem in about 100 miles of normal driving.

Chassis / Suspension & Steering Other When driving Always

Q:  I have a lot of play in my front end, I was told it was the king pins on both sides. I need to how to replace them.

A:  First of all , be sure that it is the king pins . There are other things that can cause this kind of problem . Ball joints can be a source of problem . Steering linkages can also be a problem . Get a manual , go to www.alldatadiy.com for information , and get ready to get dirty . Be sure to jack up the front end , chock the rear wheels , and use jack stands . Scrimping could cost you your life .

Drive Train / Driveline Other When driving Always

Q:  Have a Ford Van 150 with a 351 engine and a 3 speed C6 automatic transmission. The engine is running at a higher RPM than normal in all gears. It seems to shift at the right speeds,10& 25 mph, just high engine revs. The fluid is at the proper level but brown in color. Does the Vacuum modulator just control the shift points? Also is there a clutch in the torque converter, that could be slipping or just not working. I also believe the computer does not control any transmission functions. Replacing the torque converter is 1/4 the price of the whole transmission, & labor is free,(mine). I have a AOD transmission attached to a 302, I could install but is the bell housing, and the bolt pattern on the torque converter the same for the two engines?

A:  The engine is reving to high in relation to the truck speed? Something is slipping?

Fuel System Won't Start Happens always When warm

Q:  Truck starts great in morning. But after a 35 mile commute, will barely start and some times I must wait until it cools off completly. Replaced: Start, cylanoid, coil, fuel filter. Frustrated with an otherwise good running work truck. Timing? Sensor? It is a small v8 thanks alot!! Mark

A:  It sounds like a couple of things; have you changed the anti-freeze lately or had the system flushed? Timing is another issue. If the timing is too far advanced, it may still start when it is cold, but when hot, the starter will drag like it is bad. Years ago, that is how we used to set the timing on a new engine; by hand placing the distributor at top dead center, starting the engine, let it run until operating temperature is attained, turn the engine off and see if it will restart. If it didn't we would back the timing off until it ran good, but would still fire back up.

Definitely, check your timing.
