All Part Groups Upgrade Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  I purchased a super charger and the belt broke and I couldn't find the size belt I needed in my manual. I was wondering what size I needed for a eleven pound "Pro Charger" on a 302 motor (this is a 25th anniversary edition LX hatchback, it's the white one with the anniversary sticker on the side. Only 500 ever made.)

A:  Manufacturer of the supercharger may be able to help you. Ed

Drive Train / Driveline Vibration When driving Always

Q:  Hi again. The problem is a vibration when coasting which increases with speed. The wheels, tires and u-joints have been ruled out. How common is a warped driveshaft?? The vibration only occurs noticably when there's slack in the drivetrain (ie, when letting off the gas). This problem developed gradually. Thanks for your time and assistance.

A:  Drive shaft balance is the first place I would look, and then the 'coast' side of the differential gears.

Fuel System Malfunction Happens always Always

Q:  This car just runs out of gas. Usually you hear the fuel pump, with its loud buzzing, but when this happens there is no sound. The car idles weakly, and has no acceleration when about to die. Here's the problem - it doesn't always happen. It will happen just all of a sudden, or maybe not at all. What can I check that may be shutting off my fuel pump?

A:  The fuel pump is powered or controlled by a relay.. The relay gets it's signal from the ignition switch initially, and once the car is started, from the distributor or the computer unit Locate the relay and remove it from it's connector... carefully pry the cover off of it to check the inside for signs of overheating.... Drive Train / Driveline Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  Transmission will not engage when engine is warmed up.

A:  Have the high temp selonoid within the transmission checked. The tranny works fine when cold .?.? I would suggest that seek the assistance of a trans repair shop. This is not quite a task to tackle by yourself.

Chassis / Suspension & Steering Upgrade When turning Always

Q:  I put a 460 in my 88 mustang now the steering knuckle hits the headers is there anything that can fix this problem? The car is originally a 4cy car.

A:  are you using the stock knuckle? , you knuckle head. purchase a knuckle, shaft, and rack from flaming river. $500 later and your car will be fixed. or you can cut the header with a zaw saw at the spot it hits. then a good metal fabricator should me able to weld in a replacement piece with a diiferent bend in tube so it wont hit. #2 is cheaper route but if its a race car i would do the rack.
