Ignition System Other Happens always Always

Q:  Hello - noticeable stumbling/hesitation especially when driving up hills. I have changed plugs, distributor caps, wires, map sensor, ignition coil, tp sensor. And have tested fuel pressure, injectors, exhaust back-pressure. No codes found on scanner and scope tests all check out okay. Even tried a new ignition control module today. The truck is 4x4, V-6. Changed main prom 3 yrs ago. 02 sensor still original. Hesitation in all gears. Feels like it's bogging down. I am getting very, very frustrated!!! Can you please help!!! Thanks, Randy.

A:  Try unhooking the EGR Valve and drive it. If this cures it, then it is because the EGR is lifting early at high vacuum and diluting the fuel mixture. Ed

Drive Train / Driveline Malfunction Happens always Always

Q:  It sounds like the transmision is grinding, like it's going to come out of the truck. (5 speed) Sounds bad though all gears but 5th.. When you push in the clutch, it stops.

A:  Counter shaft bearings..... And you're right.... now it does have to come out of the truck.... for replacement...... Ed

Fuel System Won't Start Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  Not getting fuel to the throttle body. Fuse is good, relay is good, fuel pump is not running. Does my pickup have a resettable shutoff switch in the rear of the vehicle to close the fuel supply in case of a rearend accident?

A:  Nope. Try pounding on the bottom of the fuel tank while cranking the engine over. If it starts you still need to replace the fuel pump. Ed

Chassis / Suspension & Steering Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  I have a Sierra Classic truck with tilt steering, cruise and power every thing and lately the steering had been getting loose. Fist it would shut off when I would turn a corner and push up on the steering wheel. Until finaly it came completly loose where the tilt steering pivots and wouldn't turn at all. When I would turn the wheel it would shift gears.
I took the steering wheel off and the ignition switch and blinkers and everything else that I could get off all the way down to where the tilt part is but I am not sure how to get the tilt off. What should I do next? If it is broke where it pivots in there somewhere am I going to need a new steering collumn?

A:  There is a special tool required to drive the pin out of the pivot assembly to get to where the 4 bolts are loose...... locktite them this time.......... Ed

Q:  transfer case jumps out of gear

A:  The last one I did there was a trust washer bad in the front part of transfercase this let the gear move forward keeping splin from makeing . This happened in 2 and 4 wheel drive. Have a parts break down of transfer case before starting the trust maybe worn out or not there now! Waiting on parts may take couple days
