Drive Train / Driveline Malfunction Happens always Not applicable

Q:  My emergency brake light is always on, and it started after we changed the brake pads. Also the brakes are dragging, and the pedal goes all the way to the floor when I am stopped. Thanks Josh, JHkart12@aol.com

A:  Sounds a lot like the master cylinder has been affected... Possibly as you pushed the caliper pistons back into the calipers..... bringing sludge with it..... This is of course, assuming that you did not open the bleeders during the brake job.... If you did, you'll have to bleed them.... Ed

Engine Other Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  This vehicle has 46,000 miles on it. It has been in storage for 5 years (3,000 miles put on vehicle in 5 years). We pulled the truck out of storage, checked the oil and other fluids, installed new battery, and filled up with new premium gas. About 15 miles later pulling away from a light, still easy on the gas, as truck prepared to shift to second (motor gets on up into revs before shifting), motor shut down. There was no big sound, clunk, or anything, just silence. When I pulled over, oil was leaking down from motor with a little antifreeze mixed in. This was a steady stream of oil, not just a drip. Any help would be appreciated. I have not tried turning the motor over since this occured this morning.

A:  Sounds like the front seal in the tranmission dry rotted from sitting. If the oil is comming from between the motor and tran. it is worse to leave a vehicle sitting than it is to drive it. Things dry rot when a vehicle sits.

Fuel System Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  The fuel pump does not run when I turn the key switch to start. I can put 12v to the test plug and the fuel pump runs fine...the fuel rail pressure gauge shows 50 lbs.

I also noticed that occasionally the key switch will not engage the starter motor...nothing happens until I try several times. This happens intermittently...

Could it be a faulty key switch or ECM.

I've already replaced the fuel pump relay.

A:  It could be the key switch, ecm, or even a bad connection at battery/ground. It can be difficult to track down electrical gremlins. A digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) and wiring diagrams are needed.
