Exhaust System Other Happens always Always

Q:  Iam looking for a diagram for the exhaust system of my 1994 Hyundai Excel. The mesh part from the manifold pipe to the converter, has come apart and I don't know what it is called, and I am wondering if that has any thing to do with the problem of my car, Thanks

A:  I don't know what your problem is but it sounds like it is a heat sink/shield. This being frayed shouldn't affect performance.

Fuel System Malfunction When accelerating When cold

Q:  There are sometimes problems starting but the main problem is when I put my foot down to accelerate there is a sudden loss of power and shaking like the car might stall. This seems to work itself out after being driven for some time. I recently found out that the car is missing its exterior petrol cap. Could this be responsible?

A:  Rain in the tank will cause a lot of problems for you. The flat spot sounds a lot like the choke is not working for you. Ed

Brake System Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  How do you remove the front rotors? Tried using a puller but the axle keeps going in.

A:  Turn the wheel all the way toward the rotor to be removed, and tap with a rubber mallet in a circle from behind the rotor. This should help....

Ignition System Won't Start Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  The car sat for about a year. I started it up and adjusted the timing. It ran fine except for some minor exhaust leaks.

The car passed the California smog inspection: results from test-
@2500 rpm: HC(ppm)34,CO%.45,CO2%12.7,O2%2.9
@idle: HC(ppm)113,CO%.42,CO2%11.3,O2%5.1
I don't know what all those numbers mean, but maybe they mean something to you.

The very next day I drove about 10 miles and the car started sputtering. It felt like it ran out of gas but the tank was full.

I proceeded to try and start the car but it would not start. I had the car towed home.

I tried to start it 2 days later and the car started. It ran for a few minutes then died.

I tried to start it again but it wouldn't start.
I tried a couple of hours later and it started and ran for a few minutes then died. Now the car won't start at all.

I pulled the plugs and they are wet with fuel. I pulled the coil wire and there is no spark. I'm kind of baffled as to what is wrong with my car.
If you have any suggestions on what you think is wrong, please let me know.

Thank you very much.

A:  is it fuel injected if it is you probably have dirty/bad fuel injectors. there is probaly water or dirt in youre gas tank and it is cloging up youre fuel system.run some fuel system cleaner to see if it helps.

Q:  All electrical is out. Lights, radio. Everything seems not to be getting any fire at distributor. Have already changed it. But was not the problem. Was wondering if it could be the computer.

A:  Fusable link near the battery or very poor ground to body.......... Ed

Q:  how do you get the back hub off the car to change the Brakes???

A:  If there is a cap, you need to remove it and remove the bearing assembly. If there is no cap, then you will see two threaded holes between the studs. If you don't have bolts to fit them you can steal them from the fenders, one from each and if they get ruined you'll never miss them. Now, when you start to tighten them you need to go as evenly as possible. That should do the trick.

Q:  The ol' Excel seems to burn through rotors and caps at a pretty good pace. I recently changed to high quality spark plugs. Will the new plugs help?

A:  Yes, and you should but make sure the gap is set correctly... the larger the gap... the higher the resistance.... Ed
