Q: My 1991 isuzu impulse, will run good and strong at any temp below 20 celcius, but anything after that, it's seems to be laboring. I am unable to simply press the gas and release the clutch, i have to rev on the accelator several times to get around 3000 rpm, then slowly release the clutch. I have had the timming chain, rotor, plugs, wires replaced. It does burn some oil, but blows no smoke when starting, and idles fine.
A: your engine may be running too hot, try replacing the thermostat
Q: Why do my rpm go up and down when I'am coming to a stop. I change the mass air sensor and it still does it. Also, how come it wouldn't start unless you hit the gas pedal. I change the gas filter and put some injector cleaner and it still does it.
A: It sounds like the throttle posiition sensor is sticking.
Q: When the car accelerates, it seems that the fuel supply is cut off. Does that sound right?
A: It doesn't sound right.... Check the basics first, as in
the fuel filter, etc....
If these have been done recently, my next best is the
catalytic convertor is plugged.....
Most people miss this one and spend a pile of cash on
everything else first....Ed

Q: 1985 Isuzu Impulse rear wheel drive non-turbo, 1.9L motor I had a mechanic tear apart the rear end to replace outer wheel bearings. I am now trying myself to replace bearing onto axle shaft.
My Chilton's does not give me detail on order of assembly for bearing and retainer on axle.
Where can I find a detailed schematic/picture of this detail? thanks in advance?
A: go to your isuzu dealer parts dept they have exploded views on all the sub-assemblies of their vehicles tell them you want to buy a part in the rear end but need to see a picture to pick it out they all are in order of assembly. ask for a copy (its all on computer). or if they are cool the service dept may let you look at the service manual. check out authorized isuzu parts dealers on the web they may have the same pictures. Also a Haynes manual may help.
Q: While accerating from a stop, I press the accelerator pedal and the engine performs like it's starving for fuel.
After 2 to 5 seconds of stumbling, the engine has restored power and then accelerates normally.
The engine has a slight miss in neutral but while in gear,it stumbles more noticeably.
The engine has been timed, the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter and air filter have been replaced.
The catalytic converter has also been replaced and the car has passed emissions.
A: It is a carburetor problem. Not enough fuel pressure/volume, float out of adjustment, or accelerator pump problem. Check fuel pressure, if it is fine rebuild or replace carb.
