Q: I am having a problem with my carburater on idling. When I start up the engine and let it run for a while, everything is fine until I press the accelerator to disengage the choke, the engine shuts off.
I have done the following to correct the problem, but the problem is still there:
1. Change the computer
2. Change the EGR Valve
3. Change the intake gasket
4. Change carbureter(Rebuilt)
5. Check for vaccum leaks
Any suggestion on what else can be done?
A: The next amount of money I would spend on the car is for a GOOD complete manual, and then I would understand all the systems that could come into play to create this problem. Ed

Q: turnsignal fuse blows as soon as the key is turned on, and this is what i did....disconnected all the connectors to the turn lamps, removed all the bulbs, checked continuity in the turn signal switch..which doesent seem to be working properly, since the connector was disconnected... i have a feeling that i have a bad turnsignal switch.
Q: On cold start, the engine runs fine (smooth idle, and smooth idle in gear, pulling itself).
When running temperature is reached, the idle loses smoothness; it idles like it has a race cam.
On idle in gear, the truck lurches, but it accepts throttle instantly.
The 'check engine' light is on, the computer spits out an oxy sensor - Rich mixture code (45)
I have replaced the oxy sensor and the MAP sensor with no change.
Can you suggest somthing else to look at?
A: Decarbon this engine...... a vacuum reading will probably show about 18 inches and needs to be 20 to 21 inches...... Ed
Q: I would like to convert this truck to fuel injection.
It's a 1990 Isuzu pick-up with a 2.3 4ZD1 engine.
Will the intake from a 4ZE1 work, and could you tell me what other parts I may need?

A: Complete wiring harnes and ignition system, as well as the computer controls, etc. from a good salvage truck....
This is not an easy task and will cost plenty for parts in good condition.... Ed
Q: I have a 1990 Isuzu pick-up with 227K miles. the original engine was overhauled at 200K miles.
Head had to be rebuilt at 227K. Engine is running hot. Clutch fan was changed as was the thermostat. Water pump was new at the time of engine overhaul. Radiator is original. The radiator does not appear to be leaking and when I flush, fluid drains clean.
When I changed the thermostat, after engine was running at temp, I squeezed the top radiator hose to see if I get any back pressure from water pump but don't feel anything. What other options do I have?
A: It is your head gasket. To be sure go ahead and check your oil. If it's milky, go ahead and change your head gasket.

Q: I was wondering if I can upgrade the engine in my Chevy LUV? I know I can do ALL of the work to put a Chevy 350 sitting next to it in the garage. But, I think a G200 would fit in the G180 engine compartment. Any idea if the engine mounts would work? The G200 is the same engine that was available with the Trooper Impulse Pick-up. So I would want the 5 speed overdrive transmission from a Trooper. But I was also really curious if the 4ZD1 for these vehicles would fit? And if so, then would the 4ZC1 from an Impulse Turbo fit?
A: With enough time/energy/money and tools, anything will fit. I am not familiar enough from memory with this combination to send you down this road of discovery. Are there any car clubs for these vehicles that would have members who have tried these things and maybe share these experiences????. Ed
