Drive Train / Driveline Making Noise Not applicable Always
Q: I can hear a ticking sound when the clutch is dis-engaged.
The car has a 5 speed manual transmission.
The ticking sound (much like valve clatter) disappears when
I push down on the clutch.
The car, otherwise, runs perfectly. Smooth shifting with no
apparent problems.
Does this ticking sound I hear indicate a serious problem in
need of attention (presumably with the clutch)?
Thanks. Rhythm8
A: The ticking sound you hear is most likely the clutch release bearing.... it will get worse until you need to change the entire clutch unit....ED
