Heating / Cooling System Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  Car was idling with the air conditioner on for about 15 min. Air started to get hot and car began to run hot. The cooling fan did not startup and it blew a fuse. Fuse was replaced but still the cooling fan did not run and car is still running hot.

A:  Sounds a lot like the cooling fan seized???..... Is power getting to the fan now and it still is not working???... If so you need to replace it anyway.... If no power to the fan, locate the relay and test it.... Ed

Electrical / Lighting Systems Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  My lights on my car suck at night, scary really how dim they ae. I know about hid system a little, the factory price was $500 a side. Could you help? What other options do I have are there aftermarket ballest I could install and if so where? thanks Chris in Detroit,MI

A:  A problem with the headlights is the same with most ford lens covers made in this era, it turns yellow. I myself have a 1993 Mark VIII and had the same problem. A quick fix will cost around $25.00. Go to Autozone and get this all purpose degreaser called Coastal Powerclean. It will be in a gallon jug about $5.00. Along with this purchase Mequier's Clear plastic cleaner and polish. They will be sold seperate at about $8.00 a bottle. Now, take the degreaser at full strength and spray it on the headlight lenses. Do not allow the degreser to touch the paint or the chrome. Let set for about 1 min then wipe off. Repeat until no more yellowing comes off the lenses. Then apply the clear plastic cleaner and polish. This should improve the visibility of the headlights. If it real bad you might have to pull the lens off the bezzle and clean the inner part of the lens.

Fuel System Won't Start When starting Not applicable

Q:  I had made several stops during the day and my car was working fine. At our last stop when I tried to start it, it almost sounded as if it was flooded.

I never give it gas while starting it. The car shook and then died. It would run only 10 or 15 seconds before it would die. If I tried to give it gas to keep it running it would die immediately.

We tried this several times before giving up for a couple of hours. When we came back later it wouldn't even run. It would turn over but not start.

Everything electrical is working fine - it's not the battery. Any suggestions?

A:  Fuel system, clogged filter or other components in the delivery system fuel pump may be bad. Have it taken to a dealership and have a diagnostics test run on it........
