Q:  I know my brakes are new (1 year) but they have squeaked the whole time. My husband says i have to get used to it. I can't stand this.... Is he correct that they cannot be fixed? thanks, Victoria (squeakie) eerfav@aol.com


A:  Your husband is accepting the excuses from the shop.... You can get any number of additives that either are sprayed or spread onto the brake pads and allowed to soak in... Just try your local jobber store... most will have it.... and follow instructions on the bottle.... Another option is to have the shop install shims to 'toe in' the brake shoes. Either will cure the problem... Ed
