Exhaust System Malfunction Not applicable Not applicable
Q: I went to bring in my car to the dealer. The dealer told me that my oxygen sensors are bad and that they needed to be replaced. How much should they cost and how long does it take to replace them. He said they cost 200 dollars each, and that if it is not done the other sensors will soon blow. On my way home, the check engine light went on again. What may this be? And should the sensors blow if the other ones are not working? And did I get ripped off?
A: They did not check the problem that is turning the light on. Aftermarket type oxy sensors cost about 70.00 to 100.00 each. Ed
Q: I need to know if you can jumper the 10 and ground pins to retrieve codes on the 95 mazda millenia. I know you can do this for the 95 mx-6, but didn't want to try w/out asking. Also is there a page that translates the malf codes to the specific problem?
Thx in advance
brian
A: no. It is an OBD2 configured control system.First year production with a lot of fuel trim problems. codes can be retrieved with generic obd2 scan tools or ford's star2 tester. These cars are noted for setting oxygen senser codes if started with battery in poor contition.
A: You have to be much more specific. What happens with you try to accelerate or push the gas pedal down? Email me and i'll help.

Q: Regarding Mazda Millenia 1995, V6/2.5 L, after the engine gets warm and when driving, especially while accelerating from a stop, I experience slight/subtle hesitation and intermitent power as if engine experiences misfiring or loss of firing on certain cylinders. It gets progressively worse as engine gets to operating temperature, say after 20 min or so of driving. I would appreciate some leads/tips.

A: First , replace the distributor cap , wires and plugs , if you have done this already . Next , look for a vacuum leak . I have had the same problem with my Nissan Frontier . As the engine calls for more air , it is also relying on certain vacuum levels to be present as well . If those vacuum levels are not present , it drives the computer nuts trying to adjust . ANY seal , gasket , or defective hose can cause this problem . Mine was the seal between the bottom half of the air cleaner and the air tube that leads to the throttle plate .
