Electrical / Lighting Systems Malfunction Happens always Always
Q: Is it necessary to replace the motor and all of the attached equipment (i.e., wires, cable, bracket, etc.) in my driver's side power window which failed to operate because of just a crimped cable?
A: NO! If its not broke don't fix it. Run a jumper to the hot side of the p/w motor. If the motor works, don't fix it.

Q: when the car shift from low to another gear it seem to jurk like it is the transmission but donot think so.Could there be a sensor or wires causeing this problem. HELP!!! THANKS
Q: HOW ARE YOU DOING? FIRST OFF I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU I FOUND SOMEONE THAT COULD ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS.
MY CAR WHICH IS A 1992 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS
LS SUDDENLY AFTER TWO YEARS OF HAVING IT, IS STARTING TO GIVE ME PROBLEMS.IT STARTED BY DRAINING MY BATTERY LIFE. I WOULD TAKE IT SOMEWHERE AND THEY WILL TELL ME IT JUST NEED A 10 MIN CHARGE FINE I BELIEVED THEM. BUT NOW ITS GETTING TO A POINT THAT I NEED TO JUMP START MY CAR EVERYDAY IF NOT IT WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON LIGHTS OR NOTHING COMPLETLY DEAD. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR AND IT IS SUPPOSIVELY GOOD .I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ALOT AND IN THE MORNING DEAD WITH NO LIFE. SO I LEFT IT THERE FOR A WEEK WITHOUT DRIVING. NOW ANOTHER PROBLEM IT HAS IS BEFORE LIKE 6 MONTHS AGO I WOULD DRIVE AND MY CAR WOULD TURN OFF IN RED LIGHTS . IT WILL JUST SHUT OFF EVERYTIME THAT I WAS NOT ACCELERATING MY CAR, WHEN IT WAS STOPPED ONLY . THEN I CHANGED SOMETHING CALLED EGR OR WHATEVA THE POINT IS NOW ITS GIVEN ME ALMOST THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW IT SHAKES WHEN IM STOPPED LIKE IT HAS NO POWER TO GO ON WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE ACCELARATOR. YESTERDAY MY CAR WAS JUMP STARTED AND I DROVE AROUND MY HOOD AND IT TURNED OFF ON ME 5 TIMES AND IM NOT EXAGARATING. I WOULD MAKE A TURN WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELARATOR AND IT WILL TURN OFF. NOW THAT IM DONE SAYING MY STORY(SORRY) COULD IT BE THE IDLE SPEED OR WHAT THE HELL IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEMS. PLEASE ANSWER BACK
THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO HELP ME OUT.

Q: Car stumbles going to 20-30 and up mph or on upgrade. Do see EGR related codes either present in memory or during KOEO test. ahve three EGr components EVP, EGR Valve and EVP hoe to distinguish which one is malfunctioning. Another obs. Over time oil tends to gather around air intake valve. Cleaning of this is a permanent feature
A: If your engine is a 4.6,remove EGR valve and clean, replace evp sensor and retest, this vechile has had a lot of EGR related ploblems.
Q: 1989 Mercury Gran Marquis 5.0 fuel injected.
After a 20 minute drive at 70 mph I stopped and shut off
the car.
About a quart of gas gushed out of the filler cap onto
the ground. I removed the cap after it stopped and had
normal rush of air.
I drove another 20 minutes at 70 mph and the problem
did not repeat. What is wrong? Thanks!
A: It sounds a lot like the fuel tank vent was plugged....
how full was the tank???....
Did you fill it cold and drive it until hot???... Does
the exhaust heat up the fuel tank and cause expansion???

Q: Driving at 70mph on interstate yesterday. Perfectly fine until then. All the sudden, it won't shift out of second. Just revs. Will work in reverse fine, but when it does shift into second, it's rough and jumpy. Do I need a whole new transmission?
A: Sounds like the kick down cable needs adjusted the adjustment is right next to the throttle cable on the throttle body i had a 87 with the same problem.
Q: It will not shift out of first gear.
I changed transmissions three times and reajusted shifting linkage and tv cable multiple times.
It acts like a vaccuum module, but transmission experts say it isn't vaccuum or computer operated.
So what is it controlled with and why won't it shift?
A: Outside chance here, but...
Test the cooler by disconnecting the transmission lines from the radiator, and connecting them together with a rubber hose...
The cooler may be plugged and not allowing fluid flow.... Ed
Q: My car is running a little rich right now.
I need to adjust the carburator to get more oxygen to the gasoline.
The type of carburator is the variable venturi.
Is this just a "turn a screw" kind of operation or does it require more than that??
How will I be able to measure the the correct oxygen/ gas mix? Thank you.
A: Sensitive equipment is required to measure the mixture... the ideal ratio is 14:1......
The variable venturi carb is awful to work on..... the mixture settings are through the top if I remember corectly....
This is worth you buying a manual specifically for these carbs if you wish to attempt to work on it..
