Q: When starting or when driving cuts out, no gas it appears, push pedel, no response a lugging noise instead, then dies. Sometimes starts right back up. Sometimes not. Replaced fuel pump, computer, distributor. All codes check ok. Been doing this for over 2 yrs, getting worse. Can't tell if fuel problem or electric wiring prob. symptoms tell me and mechanics both. Help. Also backfires a lot when prob. occurs.
A: Pull a plug wire next time, and check for spark..... then for fuel..... This cuts the possiblities in 1/2.. Ed
Q: Uses antifreeze, white smoke out tailpipe, engine miss when smoking, clears up after a while, then will do again whenever it feels like it.
A: Probable crack in the cylinder head.... sensitive to temperature changes.... maybe as simple as a cylinder head gasket but long shot on this one.... Ed
Q: The Air Conditioner won't engage the compressor clutch from the instrument panel switch. But it will engage when jumped directly from the battery. And then it produces cool air. Checked all connections & the switch is O.K. What else?
A: The Freon level or pressures are low. This is part of the safety system. You need a recharge service. Ed
Q: Can you swap a 2.0 liter engine taken out of a 1986 Mitsubishi Mighty Max with a 2.6 liter engine from a 1986 Mighty Max? Also do two wheel drive body parts (ie. Cab ) interchange with four wheel drive body parts?
