Q: The car loses its tuning when the air fiter is repaced... I don`t understand how is that posible. How can I fix it with out having to pay for a new tuning...
I used to repair my 1985 buick with no problem at all. Nothing like this used to happen
A: Make sure the air tube is tight from the aor box to mass air sensor to the throttle body,sounds as though you are getting unmetered air somewhere.

Q: I have a mirage LS 1.8L inline-6, I am trying to add a sunpro tach, but cannot find the negative side or tach terminal on the ignition coil. thanks for your time.
A: The power side will be a steady light in your test light and the negative or tach side will flicker at idle. Ed
All Part Groups Won't Start Not applicable When cold
Q: Sounds like it has no compression though i know it does, i.e. turns over rapidly. Floods itself immediately. Strong smell of gas. As the outside air temperature warms up, it starts better. Problem gets worse over time. Some say its the tps, others say its the iac motor, still others say its the timing. Problem did seem to start about the time I had the timing belt changed. Once started, it runs fine except for a slight miss but will not idle at all.
A: Timing belt is not set correctly. A tooth or two out of alignment. Ed
Drive Train / Driveline Malfunction When driving When cold
Q: When the car is cold, it doesn't switch to upper gears. After 17-10 minutes of driving it starts to work fine.
I assume it is in safe mode, that is why it does not shift to upper gears.
Do I need to change the whole transmission or it is better to try to fix it?
A: How many gears is it missing???....
Also be careful about the electronics controlling the shifting.... you may want to try disconnecting the negative battery cable first for a few minutes and then road test it.... Ed
