Q: The idle continues to pulsate between 1000-1600 RPM - I have cleaned the IAC, and recently replaced the ECM -
The engine still races up and down at idle - runs fine otherwise - could it be another FI part?
I get no codes from the ECM.
HELP!
A: It could be the Idle Speed Control Motor, but I don't know if you have it (I have '93 Mitsubishi Galant), so you have to check it.
Q: I replaced the coil on my montero, but still get no spark, what could be the problem?
A: The ignition coil has to be "triggered" by a scource.... a pick up coil (points), or the computer, or a hall effect switch etc....
The coil discharges it's pent up power when the current to it is switched off, and the magnetic field collapses out the coil wire to each spark plug in turn....
Check for switching power to the coil... constantly on and off, as the engine turns over ....Ed
Q: How to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt after it has broken off in the engine?
A: If the bolt is fairly loose, try using a small pointed-blade knife to "pick" the broken piece (unwinding the broken piece is what you're trying to do).....
If this doesn't work, clean the area thoroughly and then heat it very well with a hair dryer...... Then melt some candle wax all around the broken surface..... Let it sit and cool over night and try picking with the knife again.....
If that's still not successful, drill a hole into what's left of the bolt.... then use an 'easyout'....good luck

Q: I am considering buying my teenage daughter a 1990 Mitsubishi Montero. Is the consumer rating as bad as that of the 2000 and 2001 regarding roll over potential?
Thanks
A: i have heard bad things about ALL suv's. but i believe that import suv's are among the worst. (ex. isuzu amigo). you still have to really try to roll it, but its much easier to do than in a car or pickup. you have to think, an suv is pretty much a box on some tires. i wouldn't plan on buying a mid size suv untill they lower the clearance, and make them wider. If i HAD to recommend one, i would pick the Ford Excursion. look at paying about $50,000 for one though.. it is the safest in my opinion without a doubt.
