A: If is is a high pitched squealing noise or chirping sound
it is probably the belts...
Turn the engine off. With the engine off, rub a little wheel
bearing grease on the side that runs in the pully grove...not
a lot....Ed
Q: Rear right seat belt not working. What do I do?
A: Replace it , barring the problem of a twisted belt . If it is only twisted , then correct the problem . If the belt is pulled out to quickly , like being " snatched " then the automatic lock may be engaging causing the belt to appear to be defective . If these are not the case , then it needs to be replaced .

Q: I was wondering where the electronic control module is located. Mine is under the drivers seat, but everytime I try to find the part it says it is under the passenger seat. Why is this part so hard to find?
A: I haven't worked on many, but have always seen them under the passenger seat.

Q: In my 1993 Pathfinder SE, there seems to be alot of "free play" in the steering wheel. The wheel will move about 2" inches before the wheels even start to move?
A: It may need new tie-rod ends. If not that, then the drag-link or pitman arms need replacing. Always, when in doubt, replace the tie-rod ends. If one comes loose going down the road, you WILL loose control of the vehicle.

Electrical / Lighting Systems Won't Start When starting Not applicable
Q: During damp/humid/rainy weather, when trying to start the engine, the engine cranks fine, all electrical components work, but the engine just won't start.
It seems as if there is no spark going to the plugs. If I let the car sit for about an hour or so, it starts fine, and the problem disappears until the next rainy day.
Any thoughts?
A: I would wait until the next rainy NIGHT......so that it is completly dark around your vehicle... especially under the hood....
Have someone cranking the engine over and you watch for the escaping spark....
Sounds to me like electrical voltage not getting to were it should be which means that it is going to where it isn't supposed to.... Ed
Interior Components Malfunction When driving When warm
Q: All power windows will not go up or down. Have checked all fuses and switched the accessory relay with the ignition relay, which were the same. Windows still would not go up or down.

Check for broken wire in door jamb. usally common on drivers door,it's the most used door and evey time you open and close the door you flex the harness.

Q: I've destroyed 2 transmissions in my Pathfinder, the first one after 2 days.
The mechanic said I 'blew reverse' because the radiator was plugged.
The second one was put in, the radiator serviced and 20 miles later I 'blew reverse' again.....
I have an incredible amount of money in it, is it worth trying another transmission? (Both transmissions came from different sources.)
Any other advice? Thank you for your help.
A: Warrantee?????.... Is that a foreign language in your part of the world???.... these are rebuilt transmissions or just used ones???.....

Q: When I start the truck at morning, it will start smooth and right away.
After running it and if we stop for more that 40 minutes, when I try to start it it will start, but will be very hard, also in 200 kilometers, it will use a full tank of gasoline. Normaly before it use to last about 2 weeks.

Q: Only the bright beam works on the right side, and only the low beam works of the left side, for the headlights.
I have checked and eliminated burned out bulbs as the cause.
When a bulb is plugged into the right side, the running lights under the bumper do not work. When the bulb is unplugged, the runing lights work ok, along with the low beam headlight on the left side.
Several weeks before this all happened, when
switching from low beams to high beams, there was a delayed reaction of 1-2 seconds before the change took place.
A: I believe all Nissans that year had a headlight control unit under the dash, repair by resoldering the contacts and clean if necessary or just replace the unit. That corrected a similar problem I had on a 1990 Maxima

Q: Fuel guage and temperature guage do not work
A: The Nissan Pathfinder and Pickup use the same shop manual and are very close. I had the Pickup. As a further description, the fuel guage would float from normal to empty and back. If this is the case, replace the sylenoid on the back of the instrument panel.
This fixed both the temperature and fuel for me.
Q: The left door doesn't shut properly. It doesn't quite line up with the car when I try to shut it. It leaves a small gap when it is shut.
What can be done to fix this problem?
A: Grip the back edge of the open door and lift up and down and up and down....
If there is play or loose movement, the door pins are most likely in need of new bushings.... Ed
Q: Need component locater for under hood. Have exhaust leak at left front of vehicle.
A: i have owned 3 nissians all were v6s every one has had exheaust leaks the cure was to replace the exhaust manifold gaskets and when u do this u better replace the studs or it will come back to haunt u .usually they have at least one broken and make sure u antisieze them good. the leak is usually a clicking sound its relly bad when engine is cold or when u first mash the gas on take off.hope this is a help shade tree dave
Q: When air temperature is over 85 degrees F., engine won't start unless you hold the gas pedal to the floor. When it starts you smell the raw gas being blow out.
If you take off the air cleaner cover, you can see gas dripping inside the throttle body. It would appear that the gas tank is being pressurized by the heat in the air and pushing the gas back up the fuel lines.
I thought that leaving the gas cap loose would keep this from happening, but it didn't help. Any suggestions?
