Heating / Cooling System Malfunction Not applicable Always
Q: I purchased some freon and the connecting hose to charge my air conditioner back up but i do not know where to plug in the hose, and I also wanted to make sure i purchased the proper freon for my cars model and type.
I purchased valvoline pyroil HFC-134a. if you can please e-mail a diagram or picture of where to plug it in at.
A: The 134A should be correct for your vehicle, but since performance depends on proper amounts of refrigerant, it is best to have a competent tech install it.
Follow the lines leading from the ac compressor and try plugging it in at a protrusion that looks similar to the valve stem of a tire
Heating / Cooling System Malfunction Happens always Always
Q: The air compressor will not come on. It's full of freon, checked the relay and fuses and grounds. Changed the ecm, jumped relay with test light... works fine. Used scanner, it says everything is fine no codes. ??
A: Full of freon doesn't mean alot unless it's full enough..... you need a pressure reading to ensure this....
If the pressure is okay, the problem is most likely the high or low pressure switches..... Ed
Q: Exactly what does the mass air flow sensor do, and where do I find it??? Thanks.
A: The mass air flow sensor is in the large air hose leading to the intake manifold.... It is the electrical plug connected to it....
It measures every gram of air the engine is using, and signals the computer to meter the appropriate amount of fuel....
During idle, you can tap it lightly with a screwdriver to see if the car runs roughly... If so, replace it.... Ed
Q: Hi there... I have an 87 Olds Cierra - blew a rod out
the side of the damn thing... Anyone have any idea what
the cheapest I could get it fixed for is? Body's still good.
A: A used Engine from a wrecker is fast and the best choice
here.....good luck.....Ed
Q: The car starts but does not get gas coming thru the carburetor. Nothing is coming thru the injectors.
Does it sound like it needs a pcv value? Where does it go and how is it taken off?
A: The car can't have a carb and injectors.
1986 is probably fuel injected with a throttle body system.
No gas means intank fuel pump not working.
A: YOU'RE BEST OFF GOING TO YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE TO BUY A BOOK FOR YOU CAR. IT WILL TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HOW TO CHANGE IT.
IT WILL ALSO TELL YOU WHERE TO FIND IT WHICH SHOULD BE ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK.
IT LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE PLUG ABOUT 1INC. LONG WITH A WIRE PLUG ON IT.
Ignition System Won't Start Not applicable Not applicable
Q: Car cranks fine. Ignition sparks 1 or 2 times then stops. Car will start and run if the wire for the fuel pump prime is removed from the coil connection, or by removing the fuel pump relay from the system. I have changed the relay, ignition module, coil, hall effect switch, and ecm.
A: Sounds like you are connecting the fuel pump wire to the wrong terminal of the coil.... Ed
