All Part Groups Malfunction Happens always Always

Q:  Will not shift gears. I need to find out if there is a special part I need to get to hold the shift cable on, or if a tight ring or something might work.

I know how to fix it, I just need to reconnect the shift cable to the post on the transmission box (my terms may be all wrong, but please bear with me.)

It won't shift out of the gear its currently in. I can reconnect it, but without something holding that shift cable on, it slips loose immediately.

If you know of the part, please let me know and I'll buy it from All-Parts.

A:  Go to a local wrecker who has the car. You'll see the shifter where the part stays on, and what it has that yours does not..... Buy it from them and happy motoring..... Ed

Brake System Other Happens always Always

Q:  The brake pedal goes almost to the floor. I have checked all the pads and bled the lines, but I still have no brakes. What could possibly be the problem?

A:  If there is no air in the brake system..... your rear brakes are out of adjustment..... the pedal height is determined by rear brake adjustment.... Ed

Engine Malfunction When driving When warm

Q:  I just bought this car and I would like to swap out the 255 slant six to a 318 V8. What do I need to change on the car to make the swap, will the oem trany work with V8? Are any books out there to help me? Thanks, Tom

A:  No books to help. Just mechanical engineering, welding, parts maker and a lot of knowledge will get you through it. Only a race car shop would be able to do it that has done it before.
