Q: i need to know how many gas filters there are,
and where they are. the mechanic says there is only one. he put the car thru all the tests and it checks out fine. he thinks it might be condensation. it starts fine from cold start but has to sit for at least an hour before it will start easy.
A: First things first, do you have spark during no start. If you have good spark, then check fuel pressure. I assume no carb on this car, so does the in tank fuel pump run during no start? Did your mech check for a leaking injector/ or fuel regulator??
Q: The car hesitates when the gas pedal is abruptly depressed. Slow, gradual depression of the pedal does not result in hesitation.
This is a California car with all the pollution control removed. The original 1966 owner of the car said it was always a difficult car to start from day one. The car runs well except for this one problem.
A: This sounds like a quadrajet carburetor car...
Just replace the accelerator pump...... Ed
