The car runs fine but yesterday the Service Engine Soon light came on and stays on. Is there a way to check what the engine code stored is or do I need some sort of diagnostic equipment?
The light had come on twice previously at about 28000 miles and then went out.
The Saturn dealer checked it when I took the car in for the scheduled oil change and replaced the O2 sensor (under warranty).
A: You need a scanner to retrieve codes. No way around this.
Q: My car's engine constantly revs up and down while driving or idling . When you start, it revs up to 2000 rpm before dropping. I have cleaned all of the sensors and the throttle.
I'm not receiving any error messages.
Could it be the PCM?
Thanks for any help
A: I would be looking more for a vacuum leak and/or a plugged idle air control assembly. You can clean these, including the channel they sit in, with carburetor cleaner spray. Ed
Q: My 1993 Saturn SL1 hesitates when I hit the gas, and it also will not "REV" all the way.
The tach gets to about 6 and then drops off, and then revs back up to 6 and drops off again.
I have noticed that the car also has less pick up than before. What could be causing this problem?
Thanks,
James
A: Possible plugged catalytic convertor???.... also probable rev limiter cutting in on you if the 6 you are refering to is as in 6000 rpm.... ouch...
Q: Is it possible to put a Turbo or Supercharger on my Saturn?
Its only a 4cyl. but i think its possible, and I would love to do it for then heck of it.
Plus I'd like to have more power without dropping an new engine in it. Please let me know.
Peace,
Luke
A: Anything is possible, but are you interested in the $1400.00 for the turbo or the $2000.00 for the supercharger to do this?
And the labor as well...... Ed
