Chassis / Suspension & Steering Making Noise When driving Not applicable
Q: I live in Hawaii where the roads are a bit bumpy. I'm pretty sure that my shocks are on the out. We get a terrible scrapping noise whenever the car is loaded with passengers and we go over the rough parts of the road. What I would like to know is what I need to replace. I would like to know which shocks I should replace. The rear two, all four, etc. I would also like to know what kind of shocks I will need and approximately how much they will cost. As a novice with car repair, would I be able to do it on my own, or should I have a pro do it?
A: Do it yourself and use the heavy duty gas rear shocks. Also, shocks are not a "load carrying device". That is what the springs are for. Ed
Q: When I turn off my ignition, the car tries to keep running until I put the car in gear and let the clutch out, then it will stop running.
A: The Problem is called Dieseling you have carbon build up in your cylinders that maintains enough heat to ignite the fuel.
An aftermarket cleaner may fix the problem.
I belive stp makes one.
The other option is to pull the heads and clean the carbon away.
