Chassis / Suspension & Steering Other Not applicable Not applicable

Q:  I noticed today, after hearing a loud knock when parking that my front stabalizer bar was broken next to the driver's side tire. What does this part do, and how important is it to get it fixed.

A:  what is the name of the part?? oh, that's right, front stabalizer bar. What the hell do you think it does???the name is self explanatory. it helps to stabalize the front end so you don't experience a lot of body roll.
NOT your body!!! as you turn a corner, the law of physics wants to keep the vehicle in motion in the original direction that you were going before you turned the steering wheel. as you turn the body of said vehicle wants to lean or
"roll". if you don't get it fixed chances are that when you turn one way the vehicle won't lean as much as when you turn the opposite way so you decide if it's important enough to get fixed. DUH!

Engine Making Noise When driving Always

Q:  There is a distinctive clicking noise synchronous with the engine speed, very noticeable during idle. Sounds like the clicking of a diesel engine. It runs well and smooth but the clicking has become more pronounced. The maintenance is up to date.

A:  Sounds like a lifter (valve adjustment). If your oil changes are good and you use top quality oil, you can try an additive for lifters first. Also, let the car sit and idle for an hour or more with the hood down. And then let the engine get real warm to see if "varnish build-up" will melt away. Ed
