All Part Groups Chugging When accelerating Always

Q:  Well, the check engine light, oil light, low fuel light is on plus when you give it the gas it sputters. Runs pourly in wet weather.

A:  Locate a wiring diagram and follow each of the affected circuits on the page from beginning to end. Find the common bond with all the circuits. Might be a relay, or an ignition switch connection, or a common connection at the fuse panel or behind the instument cluster etc. Then you know where the problem is starting. Ed

Fuel System Other When starting When cold

Q:  My van has started being harder to start. Some days you have to keep cranking on it, others it will start fine, but will cut out while driving - especially when accelerating from a stop. It seems to not be getting gas... then will take off.

This has been a progressive problem. It started with cutting out once in a great while, to being hard to start once in a while, to being almost impossible to start if left sitting for more than a day.

Any ideas?

A:  Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Could just be your fuel filter. A new one is real cheap and fairly easy to change if you know your way around an engine compartment. If it has a carburetor, the problem could lie there. Could be your fuel pump. Always try the cheapest and easiest fix first, then get gradually more expensive and in-depth.
