Q:  I'm simply trying to locate the engine management computer diagnostic port on my '95 Golf 2.0l. I have the fault codes in a table, and I've built a diagnostic test LED... I just can't locate the terminals. They are not in the same place they are on the Audi I've looked at before.

A:  Pull your ash tray out. slide the plastic piece on the right side to the left. the diag connector is there.

Q:  Some idiot snapped my arial off over the weekend and I bought a standard replacement. There is no instuction on how to replace it in my haynes manual, and I cant see an access panel under the bonnet to remove the old one, how do i do it?

A:  You can remove the antennae by first removing the exterior nut at the base. Afterward, you should pull the components off of the shaft while holding it and not letting it drop down the hole. There are hinged arms on the under side of the body that can be turned to allow removal through the body. You will have to unplug the antennae from the back of the stereo and I suggest using a string and attaching to the remove end.

You will need it to feed the new antennae through the routing holes. Pull the old antennae up with the string coming our the body, attach it to the end of the new unit and pull the new wire through the holes.

Engine Making Noise When stopped When warm

Q:  A tough one! This is a tap or rapping noise that sounds like a single lifter but is coming from the right rear of the engine and is loudest the closer I get to the torque converter. Leaves at about 1200 RPM in gear or not. Not evident when cold. A local VW mechanic said its not a lifter. Using a piece of hose as a steathyscope only hear the noise loudest by sticking the hose close to the flex plate through the bell housing opening under the car. Could this be something in the torque converter? All flex plate to torque converter bolts are tight.Engine runs perfectly and so does transmission. Have not put an oil pressure guage on engine to check pump pressure. Engine has 145K well maintained miles and runs valvoline 40w blend. Oil warning light never comes on. Any ideas would be appreciated. Have not pulled plug wires to see if sound changes.

A:  I have seen this problem show up as a cracked flywheel, its hard to tell without removing the trans, GOODLUCK!

Q:  heater-a/c blower fan not working. Switch has 4 positions, only get continuity light at the motor on switch position 4. should I replace the fan only or do I need to replace other parts as well?

A:  When the fan draws to may amps it blows the resistor pack. I would replace the blower motor and resistor pack. it is located by the blower motor. it has four wires going to it.
