1990 AMC Eagle Ignition System Won't Start When turning Always

New User Asked -
Hello, I have checked the ignition fuse and replaced just about everything with new parts on my 1990 eagle talon , spark plugs ,spark plug wires, coil, power transistor unit, camshaft sensor; still no spark!! It would sometimes run awhile when driven and shut off for about 45 minutes, now its completely no start. Please help! (frustrated and broke)

Roger -
Hello, What size engine, please? Do you have a "check engine" light on when the key is on? Do you believe the computer to be a good one? Have you checked for diagnostic codes?

Please advise,

Roger

New User -
I'm sorry, It is a 1990 Eagle Talon - 2.0 litre DOHC (non-turbo)engine,with auto-transmission.

The CHECK ENGINE light does not come on when keyed in "ON" position.
I,m unsure about the condition of the computer because I recently purchased the vehicle at an auction.
The diagnostic codes haven't been read cause I am also unsure if whether I'll need a code reader or a jumper. ( Thank you for responding !!)

Roger -
The check engine light should be on with the key on and the engine stopped. Since it is not on you likely cannot read codes either. Do you have access to an OBDI code reader? I'll check to see if you can use a jumper to flash codes.

I'm expecting your computer has failed. Can you remove it and see if it smells burned or has signs of water ingress? (A body leak can let water go most anywhere)

Back soon,

Roger

New User Asked -
Noise in right rear axle. Had RR axle bearing replaced, rear brakes reworked, and all new exhaust. Sounds like several large ball bearings rolling around loose in the rear axle housing - except they get caught and snap free every now and then! Crash - bang! Crack! Snap! Pop! UGLY!! Gets worse with time and speed - 10 mins driving down fwy - it gets positively unnerving!

Roger -
Hi, Can you duplicate this condition with the right rear wheel jacked up and off the ground?

What recourse do you have with the one who did the repairs you had done? Have you removed the right rear brake drum for a look? Is all of the brake and park brake hardware flawless?

Please advise,

Roger
