Might have been a faulty plug or a timing?computer issue that damaged the plug and then danaged the engine.

Purchased the car new, routine maintance done oil changes, brakes done. Manufacturer says 105,000 for tune up. Car is at 75,000 miles now. Driving car one day and car started misfiring. Never happened before. Took to mechanic and basically, the coil was found damaged. When it was further inspected, the pieces of a burned spark plug were found in the motor. Because the broken parts were in the motor, it damaged the head and the block. Had to happen over time. Never had any indication of this. Who is at fault? the manufacturer? We took to dealership for scheduled maintance at 30,000 miles. Do they check sparkplugs before the manufacturer schedule tune up? the dealership and Acura corporate do not want to take any responsibility.

They probably do not check plugs at that mileage. Sounds like it was a problem with the plug manufacturer

At what mileage should the spark plugs be checked? Should it have been done already at this mileage or only at tune-up?
Bruce Kit -
Usually there is no requirement to check them, just replace them at tuneup.
Try checking to see if there is any info re" plug manufacturer regarding their plugs falling apart.
