i have a 2 speed powerglide tranny in my 66 caprice.. when im on the highway doing 65-70 mph the engine is doing about 3000 rpm.. im thinking of instead of changing the tranny to a tb350 or a 4 speed automatic i would change the gears in the rear end to more highway friendly gear ratio... i do not know the gear ratio from the factory.. it does have a factory 10 bolt rear end in it...does anyone have any ideas on this ?? thanks

There should be a tab on one of the bolts to the diferential cover. Write the numbers down and check with a parts house or a GM dealer. They should be able to dicifer what you've got.The dealer would probably be your best bet due to age of the vehicle.

i wish it had a tag on the rear end.. that was the first thing i looked for... i will go to the chevy dealership and see if i can find out any info from them... thanks
