van just shuts off it still has all lighting just motor quits replaced fuel pump and crank angle sensor problem still their some time it will run a month and not quit other times it will only go about a mile and quit you pull off the road and try and restart sometimes it starts right back aand other time you have to try a few times and it will start right back up the van really runs great and when it does quit it doesnt start running bad or any thing like that it just shuts off any help would be appppreciated thanks jeff waller

you may have a problem with an overheating coil pack or a fuel shutoff relay
What you need to do is find out for sure if it is fuel related or spark related, and you can only do this when the car is in a no start condition.
At that time you can do a fuel pressure test and check for a spark from the coil
It can get awfully expensive just swapping parts a hit and miss thing
Since you have replaced parts no knowing whether they were bad or not, this will be a good time to run a diagnostic scan on your car to see if the computer has any stored codes
Retrieve the codes and see what the numbers point to as a problem

that was going to be my next step to see if it was spark or fuel problem not sure just got van last night bought from my best friends dad and he told me what the van was doing so i am going to have to get it in the quit mode and check from their is their any way it could be the oil pressure switch malfunctioning and if the computer sinces no oil pressure will it shut the motor off on this 1994 chev lumina van 6cylinder not sure yet if it has these capibilitys i know 1996 and on went 2 the obd2 system which reads alot more functions than the earlier system just a thought thanks jeff

I do not remmember if the oil pressure sensor was a part of the diagnostic call-out
But you can have it scanned for free at an auto parts store or rent a scanner.
You never know what you will find

i changed the fuel pump relay and it is doing the same thing it took almost an hour to start doing it again when it quits sometimes it starts back up on the next try and others it takes 2 or 3 times but it starts and the engine seems to be running fine not ideling ruff or anything im not sure what to go to next i wonder if the computer could be bad or even the key ignition ive seen those go bad but you can usual wiggle key and get them to quit what do you think i should do next thanks jeff

I think you should run a diagnostic scan and check for stored codes

thats another problem the check engine light is not on but it was on for a few minutes before i changed the fuel pump relay and i have not unhooked the battery at all as soon as i changed relay and started motor back up no check light at all and it still has not come back on even thought the motor has stalled numerous times since yesterday when i put relay in the motor ran for at least 2 hours we went up and down the road many times and no stall came back out sun morning started fine and ran about 10 minutes and then it stalled just sitting their ideling i thought the relay mite of fixed it another weird thing is i take a paper clip and cross over on the plug this is the obd1 system and i cant git it to read any codes anyone got any ideas thanks jeff

Now lets go back a step and get a confirmation os a no spark or no fuel problem
You have to test it when it is in the no start situation

i know for sure now it is a no spark it finnaly went into no start so i checked it with a spare plug and had him turn it over and check it and no spark at all let it set for 5 minutes and it started rigt up and ran good now what any help would be apppreciated thanks jeff

You probably have a sensor failing as needed. we would check the crankshaft sensor first and go from there since there are no codes present
it is going to be a hit and miss part replacement
Another thing I would suggest is that you call an auto parts store and ask them if they will do a scan free of charge if you get the car to the store since it is driveable It is posible that they can retrieve a code that you were not able to get by juming it. They may have a plug in code scanner

i replaced the crank angle sensor still no fix i took the coil pack off yesterday and it had alot of clear oily stuff behind the plate where the main plug plugs into them today i ordered the hole assembly from a junk yard for 20.00 its worth a try ive seen coils cause an engine to fail they can be trickey little critters so lets see what happens after i get the new setup friday thanks jeff

I agree that is a good move
You should also check your connection plug to the coil and check your ignition control module to see if it is sending a pulse voltage to the coil

I have to keep my foot on accelerator while driving , or it stalls. Won't restart after it stalls. Someone suggested it might be electrical to fuel pump, because fuel pump only turns on sometimes when key is turned. Replaced fuel pump relay, still same problem.

First of all do a fuel pressure test to see if the problem is fuel related.
can you scan the pcm for any stored codes? and what size engine do you have?

It's 3.1 TBI. I've had the fuel pressure checked and it's okay. As far as the control module, I haven't checked it yet.

powertrain control module will store codes
in the computer and they can later be pulled with a pcm scanner, usually free of charge at any auto parts store.
this code can lead you to malfunctioning componets.
