1987 Chev Monte Carlo SS Fuel System Smelling When idling Always
New User Asked -
This is a #55 that was built for this car, Not a stock. Engine is running a holley 650 DP on it. It ran good last year. When I started it this year it smells so bad it almost knocks me out! I have not noticed any stalling and it has good power through out the range. It has a fuel cell, electric pump through a regulator running 6 ibs of fuel. Could that be to much? Any help will be great. Thanks

O.K.,you say when you ran it last year it ran fine but now when you started this year it smells.I'm going to take this as you garage the car and only run it so often. If the smell you speak of is kind of like a varnish kerosene smell, your fuel is at question. If this is the case, you need to not only drain your fuel cell but flush it and have it throughly checked to see if the membraine is deteriorating. The membraine I speak of is much like a foam pad that not only helps eliminate "slosh" but tries to keep the fuel contained in a general area should the cell be damaged. They dont last forever.
Good Luck,
Paul
all of the parts on the a/c unit have been replaced. a/c was working and coling great. now in the dash area, when I turn on the fan to blower the cold air, it does nothing. could this be as simple as the fuse. or is it a brigger problem.

This should not be a major repair. By all means check the fuse as the problem could be a fuse.
Also check the electrical connector to the blower motor. First make sure it's securely pluged in and that the wire is not damaged.
Is further troubleshooting you can handle, with instruction? Do you have a volt meter or test light?

yes, I have a test lite. as to the fuses, the panel is old and the wording is worn off. do you know where is the best place to get a printout of what each fuse is .
Douglas -
Go right to the blower motor and see if there is power to the blower motor electrical connector. Place one end of your test light to a known good ground and the other to the electrical connector (unplugged for easy access.) Do this test with the Engine Off and Key On.
