1991 Chrysler Fifth Avenue Engine Stalling When driving No pattern
New User Asked -
Problems is unexpected stalling when either hot or cold. Engine usually restarts after a few minutes but there has been instances where it has not. Starter, battery and battery cables have been replaced. SOmetimes the check engine light, speedometer and automatic door locks don't work either.

Sounds like you have 2 intermittent problems. First it sounds like your computer is failing and that would explain the problems mentioned (minus the door lock issue). The door lock sounds like a loose ground wire which would be common with a car that is over 12 years old. Let me know if this helps. Al

Just a followup to your question, does the problem still exsist or did my assistance help fix the problem? AL

Sorry to be late replying but I've been on th eroad. The problem arose from several things. The car has an antistart device tied to the oil pressue sender. When the car was put in gear or if you hit a bump just right, the oil pressure would drop off the bottom of the scale. Nothing wrong with the guage just with the sender. This would send a signal to the computer that the car had no oil pressure and the engine would shutdown. I also found a bad vacumn lines on the MAP and the line to the fuel pressure regulator was broken off. I took it to the dealer, working outside when it's snowing and the temp is in the single digits got old real quick, and he replaced a clip on the wire from the oil pressure sender and the sending unit. I fixed the vacumn lines myself. The car now has normal oil pressure readings on the dash and the stalling has stopped, so far. The dealer ran diagnostics off the computer and found everything else OK. Nothing like trying to figure out whats wrong with a car talking with someone who doesn't know a wrench from a hammer and is a thousand miles away. Anyhow, I think it's fixed. The problem seemed to more pronounced in the summer, so I'll wait and see.

1991 Chrysler Fifth Avenue Fuel System Stalling When starting Always
New User Asked -
The other day I ran really low on gas. After filling up I drove it to work and the home again. The next day it started fine and then died after a couple of seconds. If I turn the ignition all of the way off it will start and run for a couple of seconds, but dies every time usually with little if any sputtering. If I don't turn the ignition all of the way off it will crank over, but not start. I have changed the fuel filter and added fuel injector cleaner. There has been no noticable improvement since.
Thanks,
Justin

Have you checked trouble codes?
Need instructions? If you do let us know.

I have not hooked it up to a computer because I do not have one readily available. The car does have a display that monitors at least some of the systems and fluid levels. It is reading that all monitored systems are OK.

OK, I figured out how to get the code and it is displaying an "end of codes" code.
