1996 Chrysler LHS Ignition System Vibration When accelerating Always
New User Asked -
The engine vibrates fiercely 'til we get to about 2000 rpm then it's gone. Light accelerationto something more vigorous always produces the vibration. It's got a new timing belt, etc in hopes of eliminating the vibration. Because I drive most of my miles at 65-70 mph(I live 'way out in the country), the vibration isn't too bad except on the way up to speed. I get 26 to 28 mpg. Any ideas?

Is this while the car is sitting still or out driving on the road?
If it is wile driving
Check Your driveshaft
Drive the vehecle until it reaches the 30 mph range then change it to another gear Low or 2nd gear and and bring the engine speed to the same point to see if the vibration is consistent
Then the driveshaft is not at fault
you need your U- joints inspected
hope this helps

I checked the LHS by doing what you'd suggested, constant speed and changing gears to determine if drive or not, and the vibration does not occur when the gears are changed. The vibration/shudder occurs only in top gear- In Drive at RPMs of about 2000 or less. Any other ideas?

In this case I would rule out the drive train and look at a problem being cause at the engine level a clogged fuel filter or system faulty spark plugs
an uneven compression balance in the cylyinders ,fuel injection malfunction
You should have a major tune up done first and also scan the computer to see if there are any stored codes that contain information to diagnose the problem
I keep receiving a "66" code, PCM not receiving a CCD Bus signal, and I loose all gauges in the dash, and the car goes into "limp home mode". This happens randomly on a daily basis. Mostly later in the day or when it's really hot outside. I've already changed the Body Control Modual, the Speed Sensor, and checked conections between the components.
What else could it be???

Is that the only codes you are getting?
Did you inspect thoroughly for pin damage as well as the wiring. Your best bet to find the problem is using a wiggle test, to see if you can recreate the problem when it is not there. Other than that the modules needed to be tested with a Chrysler capable scan tool (DRB).

I checked the pins on the PCM and BCM. Do you think it is the PCM itself?
