No fuel from fuel pump. New pump, filter, crank sensor, and pcm.All the relays are the same , I moved them around and didnt help.
Roger -
Hi, Have you checked fuses in the Power Distribution Center under the hood?
Fuses A & B are both 20 amp fuses that supply power to the Auto Shut-down relay (ASD) and the Fuel Pump Relay.
If the ASD Relay doesn't energize then the fuel pump relay won't either.
Remove both of these relays from their location in the Power Distribution Center under the hood. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Do you have power arriving at terminal A of the ASD relay and Terminal B of the fuel pump relay sockets?
These relays are not drawn on the wiring diagram to be the same. Do part numbers and number of terminals on the relays match physically?
Roger
Roger -
Also, Fuse #18 (10 amp) in the interior fuse box supplies power to both of the afore mentioned relays. Is Fuse #18 good?
Roger
New User -
Yes fuse #18 is good, thank you.
Roger -
Did you see my first message?
Roger
New User -
yes. I dont know terminal a from b on the relay but the terminal at 6:00 and 3:00 on both had power,12:00 and 9:00 did not.Standing in front of the car. All relays have the same numbers and are physically the same.
Roger -
Fuses A & B supply power at all times to these relay sockets. But the key must be on for Fuse #18 to supply power to the relays.
With the key on each relay socket should have power at two of it's terminals. Is this the case?
Roger
New User -
Im sorry yes with the key on each relay has two hot terminals.
Roger -
OK. So power supply is not the problem. That leaves the control of the relays, the relays themselves, the wiring and connectors, the pump motor itself and of course the electrical grounding points for the system.
We can jump ahead here if you can see the wire colors of the relay sockets. Can you see them?
The fuel pump relay socket terminal B is the one that has power with the key OFF. There is a DkBlu wire terminal in that same socket. If you jumper these two colors together the fuel pump should run continuously. Does it? If it does the whole circuit from this relay through the pump motor to ground is good.
This test will narrow where to go next.
Roger
Roger -
Yikes!! The wire that runs to the fuel pump motor to jumper to the power wire in the relay socket is DkBlue/Blk.
My bad,
Roger
New User -
The pump ran.
Roger -
Then this means that the PCM has to supply ground to the ASD relay and the fuel pump relay. It is supposed to do this via the DkBlu/Yel wire between PCM connector pin #51 and terminal C in each of the ASD relay and fuel pump relay sockets which are connected in series.
If you can verify continuity of these wires (assuming/believing the PCM should be a good one) there must be a bad relay.
Easter dinner now. Back later.
Roger
New User -
We have continuity! Please this is Easer, if you wish we can do this another day.
Roger -
I'm a gearhead so I take short time out breaks, this day included.
With the ASD relay installed can you hear or feel it energize when a helper turns the ignition key on?
Roger
New User -
I cant feel the asd relay.
Roger -
Can you hear it? Try using a screwdriver handle against your ear and the blade touching the relay.
If the ASD gets the command (ground) from the PCM but doesn't energize the fuel pump relay will not energize at all.
Roger
New User -
The ASD didnt energize.
Roger -
One more way to test the ASD with it installed where it belongs.... With the key on do you have power to one of the wires in any fuel injector connector? Yes? Relay is energized. No? Bad relay, or PCM ground circuit is problematic.
Do you have a digital multimeter? Will you set it to 12 vdc and put the red lead probe on a known good power source of battery voltage. Touch the black lead to the fuel pump relay socket terminal that has the DkBlu/Yel wire and see with the key on you get a reading. That would verify the PCM provides ground.
Roger
New User -
With the key on I have no power at injector. #2 With the key on I dont have power at the blue wire, with the key off I do.
Roger -
What is your email address please? Time to send you a wiring diagram to see if we are in sync.
With the ASD relay installed and the key on it should energize and power the fuel injectors. The installed fuel pump relay uses the same ground path and energizes to run the fuel pump.
So if the fuel pump relay is removed and you test the DkBlu/Yel wire for a path to ground (key on) but find none the PCM is not providing the ground like it should. You verified the continuity of the circuit earlier in this dialog. New PCM or not if there is no connection problem I would blame this PCM.

1994 Chrysler New Yorker Electrical / Lighting Systems Failing Happens sometimes No pattern
Daver Asked -
When I first turn on the ignition sometimes the guages and tachomoter don't come to life. When i drive in this condition the transmission doesn't shift. After a mile or two it comes back to life and is normal. After a trip of a few miles sometimes the check engine warning sign comes on but nothing appears to be wrong. The dealership ran diagnostics and could only recommend we try and install a new main computer. I hope you can help.
David.
Falkeneiz -
It sounds like the body control computer might be acting up. If the dealership wants to start throwing parts at the car in hopes of fixing it , I recommend that you make an agreement with them that after their repair , if the car still does the same thing then they credit you the first repair towards the next item they want to throw at it. They should be able to test the gauges, and different computers to find the correct fix. If I can be of any assistance feel free to email me at [redacted] upon accepting this response..... Good Luck

Again, if you have received this question, please forgive. I live in the Desert and the air conditioner on the car is a vital necessity. I have a problem that I am getting cold air out of the windshield vent and nothing else. I think it might be a blend door or a blend door actuator. Both of these I have no idea where they can be found. Your help would be appreciated.
Roger -
Hello, I'll try to help. Does your car have AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL, or, Manual HVAC Controls?
Please advise,
Roger
Syn -
I am very disappointed in your service. When you asked for the money you gave the impression that the mechanic would be responding immediately.
I found the problem. It was on the Brake housing at the top of the car. The vacume hose broke.
This was the biggest waste of $5.00 that I ever spent
Roger -
You are not talking to All-Parts, Sir. I am an ASE Certified Master Technician with thirty years experience and I did try to help you. It's not my service that delayed your answer. You posted a question on July 6th. On July 7th I responded by asking questions that would allow me to assist you had you only answered my questions about your car's HVAC system so I could get on track.
After a week you still had not responded in any way, so the 29 pages of data I have on just your car's system lay here for nothing. How it is you think I failed you, escapes me. Do you honestly think I do this for the money? Wow!

Hello, I've asked repeatedly for an update here. Won't you please reply?
My beautiful '89 New Yorker was rear ended. The body shop says that the car is a total loss because the cost to repair is more thant he car is worth. The body shop said they've searched for parts for the car but they can't find them. The trunk lid needs to be replaced, the lock & medalion (they cut it out to get the lid open) and the chrome trim on the bottom edge of the lid needs replacing. The trunk interior body part is deformed, but I think the body shop can fix that. It's getting the parts that's the problem. I want them to fix it so that I can keep it for a long time. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what your location is.I'm on the west coast and I can maybe give you a few leads on salvage parts. You may also want to check on this website itself.I was able to find a hard to come by engine here.Once you get prices on parts shipping and labor to do your repairs,I'm sure you will find it easier to put your car to rest than your pocketbook.
New User -
I'm in Los Angeles. The body shop said they looked for parts, but I don't know if they tried traditional places or if they did web searches.
Thanks for your reply.

Here are the top 3 I used when I was an appraiser: Lakenor-[redacted] ,LKQ-[redacted] ,Greenleaf-[redacted] .The first 2 have yards in your area. The last is in Nevada but will drop ship to a shop at a reasonable cost.If none of these guys can find it,then theres' pretty much none to be had.
Good Luck,
Paul
1988 Chrysler New Yorker All Part Groups Hesitating When driving When warm
New User Asked -
I have a 88 new yorker. When you drive at lower speeds it seems to run fine but when you drive at 55+ it hesitates and surges. The speedo seems to read erractically as well. than that it is still a nice car. Any suggestions?
Roger -
Hi, Both the speedometer and the transmission are interested in what the vehicle speed sensor has to say. What the speedometer does with the sensor information is a given, the transmission uses the info to know when to shift, what gear to use and when to apply the torque converter clutch. Erratic signal will cause what you've described.
I'd have this speed sensor checked. It's on the transaxle and can be replaced ( if needed) without opening the transmission.
Your turn,
Roger
Roger -
Hello, Did you resolve this car problem?? Please advise..
Thanks,
Roger
New User -
not yet
Roger -
What can I do for you?? Have you had the speed sensor checked, or, not had the time to?
I check the trouble codes on my car, and the code 13 always comes up. I changed the MAP sensor. The code indicates a promlem with the MAP sensor pneumatic (vacuum) system. What does that mean, and what can I do to correct this problem? thanks
Bruce Kit -
Trace the MAP sensor vacuum hose back. You will find an electrically controlled valve that 'turns' the vac on and off.See that the hose is good and not dry or cracked.
Test the electrical connection for voltage at higher RPM than idle.
Check the other vac lines for any leaks, perhaps the Manifold Ambient Pressure senser is not receiving a strong enough vac signal.
Try opening the door from the inside and out after locking and unlocking the door (both inside and out in case just one portion is bad OR the child safety locks are engaged). Try this repeatedly and let me know if you can get either door to open. It may also help to push the door (more tightly closed from the outside) before pulling the handle, this may relieve just enough pressure to get the door open. Update me...
New User -
Tried that. Is there a child safety lock feature? I couldn't find anything in the manual about one.
