1964 Dodge Dart Engine Making Noise Happens always Always

273 V-8 continuous clicking could be valve lifter? someone suggested putting in a quart of transmission fluid in the oil and then changing the oil and filter when the clicking stops. What do you think about that?

You can do this just dont drive the car. This normally cleans the lifters and flushes the internal of the engine. You may have to replace the lifters (not bad for a car the is 40). AL

so how long do you run the engine?
5 minutes? 15? 30?

I also understand it had new valves installed to accomodate unleaded gas,

So I wonder if its a spring or rocker arm?

could the timing chain need a tensioner?

15 minutes at idle will be fine... listen for the tapping to go away. ALso try some lead additive (from walmart its cheap) see if that helps. I dont think it is a spring, broken springs make a hellova racket. Finally you might have to adjust the valve lash. WHat makes you think about the timing chain? AL
