Dodge Ram 3500 Quad Cab Pick-up

2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Quad Cab Pick-up All Part Groups   

It is a deisel 4x4 with auto tranny when truck is put in gear there is a knocking noise. Only when the truck is up to operating temp does this happen around 190-200 deg. when engine is still cool there is no noise.

This should be under warranty and repaired at no charge, assuming you are in the United States.

I took it in already and they dont know where it is coming fron, they said they will contact Dodge directly for advice but so far no answer.

Please further describe the noise and I'll see if I can find anything that might match. Where does the knocking come from, engine, transmission, other?

Any chance the knock is from the exhaust system (usually described as a rattle)? Sounds from here are often overlooked.

Sorry for the delay, the sound comes only when the engine comes up to operating temp. And sounds like a as my friend says a knocking rod, but only happens when the tryck is stationary and in gear it is an automatic. As for the location it seem to be comeing form the engine compartment although the techs at my local dealer says the cannot locate the source

Be sure to document the problem you are having just in case you have a dealer that cannot find a problem until the warranty is expired or void. I hope you don't, but there are enough complaints. Make sure not to miss an oil change and document these too.

I found no bulletins on this problem, not many issued on 2007. It is possible a bulletin will be issued for the problem when Dodge 'discovers' the cause. Then again you could have a defective engine, etc. I will continue to see if I can find anything on this problem and let you know.
