Dodge Rampage

1984 Dodge Rampage Engine Malfunction  

The engine was racing to the point I had to keep my foot on the brtake to keep car from taking off, it used to idle down after a few minutes, but would no longer do that, I sprayed carb cleaner into my carb and now car will not run properly, runs rough and backfires through carb, sounds like timing is off but checks ok, distributer,capo,rotor,cables,air cleaner have all been replaced and dont see any lines broken, i'm stumped and dont know what to do next.

Most likely the carb needs to be rebuilt. If you are not a very experienced person at this type of carb, I would suggest to get a rebuilt one from your local auto parts store. If you would prefer to do it yourself, I would suggest to follow the instructions that come with the kit very closely. Thanks Les.
