1997 Dodge Van Engine Tuning When driving When cold

I need to know the firing order as it seems to skip when starting off and I just changed the plugs. Also the check engine light came on after the change

1991 Dodge Van Ignition System   

shutdown relay went out, replaced it now no spark from coil

Which engine do you have?

Does the check engine light come on when you first turn on the key, as it normally does?

Have you checked computer trouble codes? Simple to do-

Turn the Key On, Off, On, Off, and On again. Watch the check engine light, it will begin to flash codes-

Flash pause Flash Flash= '1' and '2' for code '12'.

Flash Flash pause Flash Flash Flash= 2 flashes for the tens place and 3 flashes for the ones place for code '23'.

Don't overlook fuses and battery cables/grounds.

I found out that there were two relays out. the starter and the all purpouse relay. replaced the second one and it stated right up.

1977 Dodge Van Engine   

I have a 1977 Sportsman Class C Motorhome with a 360 2bbl engine. I have removed the A/C compressor and all a/c parts. Is there an idler for the alt. belt or different alt. brackets? The alt. belts will hit the water pump without something.

I want to send you some pictures of belt configurations to study. I believe you can decide which one represents the original configuration your engine had and find a pic that sans the a/c.

Then you can have an idea how to plan and what you might be looking for say in a salvage yard for brackets, pullies, and more.

Looking at pictures in a repair data base and considering only the Dodge B350 series van the last year I see a v-belt driven alternator is the 1988 year model.

Other possibilities may exist if you were to look at the pick-ups using the 5.9L engine.

I do not have parts books available to me.
