I did a convertion from the 4 cylinder engine to the 5.0 engine. I used an 87 5.0 cougar speed density engine with an 89 5.0 mustang mass air flow sensor computer. My question is will the convertion work properly if it has a 5.0 mustang speed density computer? Will having a cougar engine with a mustang computer be any trouble? What do you recommend to do?

I know a few people who convert their 5.0 to the mass air flow type, including the comp.I have even taken out 5.0 HO computers out of stock Cougars, but you might want to upgrade the motor also.Ford Motorsports has a kit to do it. If you wish to buy used, find out which Motorsport parts are used.

I have an 88 ford mustang. I want to know if the cougar 5.0 engine will work with a mustang computer even if they are both speed density or mass air flow?

Computer will not work, they are specific to the injection type.
