I have an oil leak that I suspect is the oil pressure sender. Where is that located on the V-6 3.3 Litre engine?

I can look up the information if you wish, but I think you'd be better served with access to complete repair information on your vehicle. Hyundai is the only manufacturer to offer their repair information free of charge.

I had a new motor put in my car 2 weeks ago,the car was running great, last night my check engine lite came on and my speedo stopped working and now the car takes off in third gear only, the code that came up I was told is p0705 but I don't know what that is ?? if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Bruce Kit -
p0705 is the Transmission Selector Switch.
The computer likes to know what gear you are in.Switch located on the trans where the shifter cable is hooked up.Might be unplugged or bad connection.Easy fix!
New User -
We've changed the switch and checked the connections and still the same problem. Could it be anything else? Any other ideas?
Bruce Kit -
If switc and wiring good, the other end is the computer.Try disconnecting battery for a minute, to see if it clears the codes.
98,000 miles trouble free. Now the "Check Engine" light has come on. No indication of any problem. No odor. No oil leak. Engine running very smoothly. What is the most likely culprit? Where should I look next if the most likely isn't it? Do you have parts?
Falkeneiz -
most likely culprit might be your O2 sensors. The best way to find out would be to go to a reputable garage and have the check engine light diagnosed. They can hook up a code scanner and determine what your onboard computer has seen as the problem. You have what is called an OBD2 diagnostic system in your car which moniters all of your computer controlled systems onboard. If you have any questions or need verification/definition of a particular code you can contact me direct at [redacted] upon accepting this answer. Good luck

What is a reasonable amount to pay for the diagnostic, and if the problem is the O2 sensor(s), how much should I expect to pay?
Falkeneiz -
A reasonable figure would be from 35-65.00 depending on where you go... it only takes a few minutes to actually retrieve the code. O2 sensors for your car can be expensive. You have a four wire (heated) O2 sensor and they can cost up to 150.00 each plus labor.
This vehicle broke down on a road trip last night. It lost power and the engine died. It was recranked twice and ran briefly each time (approximately 1/2 mile the first time, considerably less the second time). After that, the engine would turn over, but there seemed to be no fire.
I have been told that the crankshaft sensor is bad.
These are my questions: (1) does this diagnosis fit the scenario I have described; (2) what is a crankshaft sensor and where is it located on this vehicle; (3) what should I expect to pay for parts and labor to get the vehicle repaired?
Thanks.

Johnny,
1) A bad crank sensor can cause the symptom you have described. It can also cause the check engine light to turn on.
2) The crankshaft sensor measures the speed and position of the crankshaft and sends that information to the engine computer. This signal is used to time and operate the spark and fuel injection. It is located behind the crank pulley or in the side of the engine block.
3) 4 cylinder is $60 + 3 hours labor + diagnostics. 6 cylinder is $45 + 1 hour + diagnostics.

My car has a rattler security system. The security lock is not turning off when I try to turn it off with my remote key.The battery is in good condidtion, all lights work fine, radio also starts BUT THE CAR DOES NOT START BCOS OF THE SECURITY LOCK. Please let me know how should I disable the lock so that I can start my car.
Douglas -
Remove the system and throw it out.
You will need to use your access code at the following site for instructions.
When engine check light is on intermittently, can the diagnostic code be foudnwithout service centre support? Can the warning be found and interpreted with no specialised equipment?
Bruce Kit -
While the preferred method is to use a scanner (some parts places do a fee scan)
sometimes the diagnosis can be done without. First ensure oil and coolant levels are ok. Air filter clean. If the car is running fine, I usually do not worry.
If it has other issues like hard starting, then I try to analyze each symptom indivually.
New User -
Thanks. I suspect a bad temp sensor, which will make the car run rich, but intermittent warnings will make it harder to confirm without a diagnostic code. Nice to get fast feedback.
Bruce Kit -
Yup intermittent warnings are much like trying to hit a moving target. They are the 2nd hardest to diagnose.Sometimes you just have to wait.
The hardest diagnosis is the multiple sensor failures.
