1991 Jeep Comanche 4x4 Ignition System Won't Start When starting Always
New User Asked -
in-line 6 with auto trans will not start. Starter turns over engine but no fire to plugs. Coil, wires, plugs and distributor cap/rotor are all OK. I understand this model has no ICM. What else is in the circuit that will keep the engine from running?

The key thing this engine uses to time the spark is the crank sensor. It is mounted in transmission bellhousing at the rear of the engine. It has 3 wires and if it is bad, you will have no spark. This signal goes to the computer which sends the spark signal to the coil.

I checked the CPS using the technique from my Haynes repair manual. It said the resistance between the A and B connections going to the CPS should be zero. Since none of the 3 connections are labeled, I checked between each pair of the 3. All are open or zero resistance. I also checked the Trouble Codes of the Checvk Engine Light according to the technique in the manual and there was only the 55 code for end of output. I've double checked all of the fuses and wiring connections. Now what?

The orange wire on the harness should have aout 8 volts with the key on and while cranking.
If it passes the test, use a test light at the coil to make sure you have power with the key on AND while cranking on the dark green/red wire. Then see if the test light flashes when plugged in and backprobed on the grey wire at the coil. The light should be on with the key on and blinking while cranking.
How do you get an air lock out of the cooling system. The radiator was drained to replace a bottom radiator hose and now I can't get the coolant into the radiator. It just keeps bubbling out.

Did you fill the radiator before starting the engine?
How much were you able to get back into the radiator?
Excessive bubbling can be a sign of combustion gases entering the cooling system (head gasket), let's hope that is not the case.

Is that your reply? "I don't have the answer"

I'm not clear on the problem you are describing. That is why I was seeking clarification.
Rev the engine slightly while adding coolant. You can also insert an aspirin to hold the thermostat open. This will allow coolant to flow freely and dispel any trapped air (assuming air is not re-entering the cooling system).
