1977 Lincoln Mark V Fuel System When idling Always
New User Asked -
The trouble I am having is.On my engine there are 3 Vacuum Operated Valves(with 3 vacuum hoses each).One on the heater hose attached to the water pump,another Valve on the thermostat and the other in the intake manifold(for water).I do not knowwhere any of the vacuum hoses go,or where the Spark Delay Valve or the Check Valve go.I can get the engine to Idle fine with 17lbs. of Vacuum. When I put the car in drive the car wants to stall and has about 5lbs. of vacuum. I have a new holly 4bbl. carb. Sounds like a vacuum hose not in the proper place. I do not know if the Vacuum Valves are good or not + the other spark delay vacuum valves.
Thank You

Hi;
The three vacuum valves are for spark delay,if you have automatic temperature control, and for air thermactor valve.athe only way to configure this vaccum lines is to look underneath the hood or on the core support. There should be a sticker that tells you where the routine is. If you dont find this, call your local Ford dealer. Most likely they will make a copy for free. Good Luck Les.

Hi:
When I went to a Ford dealer the only answer I get is they do not have any way to check, because of the age of the car. In other words they do not want to help.

Hi;
Let me see what I can come up with. Thanks Les.

Thanks
Marty
What I keep comming up with is when I put it in drive the car stalls out. I rased the RPM in park to 800rpm. Calls for about 700rpm. I have tried changing the vacuum lines around nothing good.

Hi;
I just had a web site where you can order a wiring and vacuum diagram from. The cost is $40.00. Not Bad. Send me your email address I will get it to you. Thanks Les.

Hi;
I would get a hold of them and tell them that they either sent you a partial diagram or if they dont have it refund your money. Last one I order from them for a 1980 mercury had everything I needed it. Good Luck Les.

This is a book of the Car with all the vacuum and electrical of the car. No pages are missing, nothing of the engine.
Thank You
Marty

Hi Again;
It should have all the vacuum diagrams. COMPLETED ILLUSTRATION. If not I would call them back and tell them to take the manual back and refund you your money. Thanks Les.

I bought the book last year on EBay,I also have Factory Shop Manual 1977 Ford. The only way I can find out how to fix my vacuum trouble is to find another 1977 Lincoln Marl V with a 460 engine???
Thank You
Marty

Hi;
Not likely. You need to get a hold of the right diagram. Try calling the dealer and tell them that you are restoring the car and need the original under the hood decals. Thanks Les.

Hi:
Still weighting for the new Vacuum book from Lincoln.One thing I found out is that the vacuum comming off the Carb. for the PCV valve does not work properly.When I blocked it off the engine runs 100% better.I have a holley carb. with a spreadbore manifold.I am going to take off the EGR plate and replace it with a 1" spacer.
Thank You
Marty
